I'm happy to announce the first internal UGX Launcher - Installer (UGXLIN) Qt
version!
Major rewrite, optimizations and improvements of existing code and
functionallity
Please read everything below to avoid major issues!
¶ Important highlights from this release
- Almost full rewrite, code port to Qt5
- Improved all installations steps (useability and visually)
- New: Added runtime check and installation
- New: Pause- / resumeable download of installation files
- New: 7z extraction (smaller filesize thanks to better compression)
- New: encrypted UGXL releases (password required)
- New: forced SSL encryption
- Fixed: all known issues!
- Improved: a lot 🙂

Notes
You need to supply the following parameter to the installer:
-vermode 3
Create a desktop shortcut or a *.bat file for this!
If you don't do this, you'll get an error on the verification page
Currently only Install, Uninstall and Modify is supported.
I'm thinking about to drop the Verify, Update and Repair options completely.
¶ Testing
I need super mega heavy testing on UGXL - preferred on VM's with different OS (32 bit / 64 bit) and different states (with runtime, without runtime, ...) and install pathes, etc.!

¶ Known issues
There are no known issues to me. Certain links / buttons might lead to the
wrong page.
This should be brought up during release polishing, once documentation is
complete.
¶ Whats next?
As mentioned already, I'll will be off the project(s) for around two weeks because I need to start / finish my university project.
There might be fixes / new trivial versions but nothing minor / major is to be expected.
We now have a solid base and it's polishing time!!!
- Test it, break it and I'll fix it.
We are moving towards a donor release now!
